A worked note, not a training prescription.
This example is invented. Imagine watching a clip in which the ball carrier turns toward the sideline, a nearby teammate moves closer and the pass is incomplete. A quick summary might say “poor passing.” A more useful notebook entry separates the visible action from the explanation you are tempted to give it.
Clip reference: clip 02, first possession. Observation: the supporting teammate moved closer before the release; the ball arrived behind the receiver. Uncertain: the camera did not show a defender on the far side. Next question: what passing options were actually visible to the carrier?
Nothing in that entry claims the receiver caused the incomplete pass or that another choice would certainly have worked. It gives the next viewing a question that can be tested against the footage.
Use each field for one kind of information.
The clip reference is a reminder for you, not a place to upload a video or identify a player. A neutral label is sufficient. The focus selector narrows attention to off-ball space, a passing window, support before a catch or a question for your coach. It does not change the footage or assess skill.
In the observation field, write the position or movement you could see. In the uncertainty field, state what the angle, interruption or missing context prevents you from knowing. In the next-question field, write one thing to look for or ask. You can change your interpretation without rewriting the earlier record as if you knew the answer all along.
Save a copy you control.
The form saves on this browser when local storage is available. Wait for the saved message. A failure message means the entries are still in the current tab but may not survive closing it; select Retry saving or export text before leaving. Another device will not automatically have the same notes.
Export creates a plain-text download. Print opens the browser’s print controls. Clear notebook asks for confirmation and affects only this notebook in this browser. Clearing all browser data can also remove it, so keep a separate copy if the record matters.
Do not enter confidential player information or use the form for medical concerns, coaching credentials or recruiting ratings. The small question is the useful part: what did you observe, what remains unknown, and what would make the next viewing more informative?
